Yes, oh huzzah, it snowed today! I am very sure that I was the first person to witness it in the house (or at least be fully cognizant of it) as I left for work at 6:30am to get to OMSI to load the last three trucks that took away all the final pieces of the Star Wars exhibit. (It's heading next to LA, you California folk.) "They" closed the museum today and tried to kick us out, but we had a deadline. So they turned off the heat and we loaded huge crates and rolling pallets in the freezing cold, but luckily we got done early. Not wanting to wait for a bus, I walked home and after dorking around and changing out of wet/hot clothes, made myself a delicious burned grilled pepper jack sandwich and the following, which I have been downing delightfully for the past 30 minutes:
Chai Hot Chocolate (my interpretation of an old Walla Walla discovery)
2 c. soy milk 1/2 tsp vanilla pinch salt 3-4 Tbsp. sugar 4 Tbsp. cocoa powder (I used half regular and half dark--so nice!) 1-2 tea bags Chai tea
Heat soy milk in a saucepan over low heat. Add sugar and salt and stir until dissolved. Add vanilla. Add cocoa powder with extremely thorough stirring. Seep tea bags until hot chocolate is sufficiently infused to taste. Makes 1-3 servings, depending on how well you share. One of my new favorite accessories to this is a triple gingersnap, well soaked in the beverage.
According to story no. 6 of Doctor Who ("The Aztecs"), sharing a cup of hot chocolate with someone is like proposing to to them. The poor Doctor, he had no idea what he was getting himself into!
